I like how you are taking the kids out to eat in honor of HF's birthday. :)
FYI about the muffins -- I haven't ever used pastry flour but always use whole wheat... I chop the apples instead of shredding them because I-don't-know-why, and I use less sugar than it calls for. But when I made them for the birthday party I used 100% of the sugar and BOY were they tasty!!
